Converting MP3 files to AAC files will make things worse because
the source material (i.e. the MP3 files) is already degraded, so the
conversion will result in AAC files that are even more degraded but
may be smaller in file size.  If you rip from the original source
(i.e. your CDs), the resulting AAC files will sound better than the
AAC files converted from MP3 files.
