[X4U] Firewire between a new iMac and a G4

A friend has this problem that when he uses his normal FW cable from  
his external HD to a G4 and after restart of he G4 (with "T" down)
he can't see the G4 on the iMac screen.  Can it be Snitch he uses, or  
the Intel?
