Shapeshifter comes with an Uninstaller -- if you didn't keep it when you
installed it, try downloading Shapeshifter again so that you can truly
uninstall it. 

This is from Unsanity's Shapeshifter FAQ:

You  might want to try this process, which may do a better job of
"uninstalling" than you can (given that there may be invisible files or
files named something that's not an obvious association...)
