[X4U] iTunes track order is whacked

I have some CD (many classical ones) where all the tracks are there, 
but in the wrong order, like:

6,8,2,5,7,1,4,3

now, when I ripped those CDs, the song or track numbers were right: 
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

How can I make iTunes put it back the right way? or more important, why 
did it goober them up in the first place?
