[X4U] Firefox Fonts messed up

I have firefox 2.0.0.17 loaded up on a Pismo under OS X 10.3.9.
Firefox shows fonts as rectangles on some (not all) sites...I couldn't 
see a setting that would account for this.

Any ideas? Safari on the same Mac does not have this problem.
