[X4U] Expanding the range of a wireless network

I use a Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link (WRT350N)  
for my home network, and am interested in expanding its coverage to  
cover my small neighborhood (for access when I walk). Has anyone  
successfully done this, and, if so, how? I've Googled and found a lot  
of interesting information, but nothing definitive.
