My understanding from Apples comments has been that so long as each machine uses the same Apple/iTunes ID, it's legal to install Lion on them all. I have 3 Macs here (iMac 27", MBP 17" & Mac Mini) and they all use the same Apple ID. Basically, the standard download is a Family Pack as Family Packs had similar rules. cjc On 27/07/2011, at 7:24 AM, Jens Selvig wrote: > It really isn't about saving $30 but more about the bandwidth and yes, I guess as a couple they both own the computers. I agree Apple has never been about squeezing money out of their clients. My friend wants to stay legal and has in the past always purchased family packs. > > I am sure he will make a DMG of the original install, since he has several Macs that he personally uses. > > Thanks for the help. > > Jens > > > On Jul 26, 2011, at 3:15 PM, Shawn King wrote: > >> >> On Jul 26, 2011, at 2:13 PM, Robert Ameeti wrote: >> >>> At 2:04 PM -0700, 7/26/11, Shawn King wrote: >>> >>>> Apple would tell you yes. >>> >>> Apple would not tell you 'yes'. Apple support would tell you to download the program to each computer. Having downloaded it once using an Apple ID will allow you to download it again on a second computer that is using the same Apple ID for the App Store at no cost. Apple will allow you to install the Lion OS on to all of your personal computers that you own and control. Apple does not try to get additional purchases from the same person. >> >> The original poster said it was for two separate computers - his and his wife's.
