My wife and I are moving into an RV full time in a month and will keep our two MBPs which are our daily drivers. I have a mini that used to be hooked up to our HDTV that will serve the same purpose in the RV as well as providing a central file server, media server, and Time Machine destination. I've got additional externals to keep in the truck and car for "offsite" backups since cloud based for everything will be too expensive with on the road bandwidth limitations; so I'll only backup critical stuff to the cloud. Photos will get 2 copies on drives attached to the server and another 2 copies on drives in the truck and car.

In my situation, the NAS would replace a Mac mini snow leopard server in a publishing workflow environment.
