[X4U] WiFi on iMac (now our iMac)

I wrote about the problems about WiFi on a friends iMac.  My wife her iMac (10.5.8) doesn't work either.
This iMac has an Airport card and it used to work with the iPad.  The Network name I created is not shown in the WiFi list.
I can see the name in the Network window.
The only WiFi that will work is the Airport Express on my Power Mac (10.6.8)
