If you want to downgrade you have to backup, erase your hard drive, install Mt. Lion, and then restore all of your apps and documents sans Mavericks. That would work, but much easier is to make a bootable clone of your system prior to updating, using CCC or SuperDuper for instance. Then, upgrade. If you don't like it you can then go back by simply booting from the clone, erasing your system disk and clone the clone back. You will then be back to exactly where you started.
