Hi, folks. I'm traveling in the UK and Italy right now and would like to know if these pre-paid SIM cards that you can buy from various mobile phone carriers are capable of GPRS data services that I can use to check my POP3 email accounts from my PowerBook. I do it at home with T-Mobile but can't seem to get it to work in London. I'm only here for a day so it's not really all that important, but I'd like to get it working for the week to follow in Italy. WAP and voice calls work fine in London with my US T-Mobile account, but when I try to connect with my PowerBook using Ross Barkman's scripts <http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html> I get a message that the GPRS ... Holy crap! I just tried connecting again so I could report the exact error code from the phone and the damn thing connected! I was able to check my email. Unbelievable! It is connected using the US settings listed on Ross' page. I didn't think it was possible. OK, so my next question is this. I've successfully connected to GPRS using my US T-Mobile settings in London. I'll be charged a premium for that, I'm sure. There's no T-Mobile service in Italy...I'll probably use a prepaid TIM or Vodaphone SIM. Will I have to make changes to my actual phone settings or just the APN and login information that Ross has so kindly provided? I remember setting up the phone for use at home and I can do it again when I get back to the States so it may be easiest to restore the factory phone settings and start all over. Thanks for any info you can provide. Kind regards, Rob Parker
