The problem: wireless printing does not work The hardware details: G3 iBook, 10.4.8 Epson Stylus Photo 820 Apple's AirPort card installed white flying saucer AirPort base station The symptoms: printer works perfectly when connected directly to iBook via USB - named Stylus Photo 820 by printer install when connected via USB to base station, AirPort Utility 'sees' it and refers to it as -Epson- Stylus Photo 820 (emphasis mine) Printer Setup will correctly add the printer connected to the base station (i.e. it sees it and refers to it as the -Epson- Stylus Photo, not the Stylus Photo despite all seeming to be OK, printing does not work - when I try the OS goes away for a while and eventually says it couldn't find the printer Anybody have any ideas? That's where you actually select the printer from. Likely, the other one that you are using is for when you had the printer directly plugged into the computer. Try that. I introduced my old airport graphite station to the situation, and it is proving a wireless access point, albeit s-l-o-w! It seems that only those using aol 5.0 can access the signal. A pc here has aol, but not 5.0. Does anyone have experience with the airport modem using aol? Can a pc using aol access the airport modem to get online? Also, can anyone out there possibly get one of those old aol cd-rom out of theor attic or from under their drink(!) And send me an image of it? Thanks, Craig w. It's the Mac Classic version....it wasn't clear if you needed the PC version. Can your Blackberry handle it? ;-) Plus, that's just plain wierd. I would think any 801.b pc/mac should be able to use it as router. I assume you are just using it in lieu of wires throughout the house vs having found a wireless point in the surrounding area? Yeah, I need the pc version of aol 5.0; sorry I was not clearer. And yes, under normal circumstances any device able to receive a wifi signal could use airport's base station, but I am using it to send a dial-up signal (via airport's own internal modem) wirelessly in my relative's house, and it requires that you use "aol 5.0" to connect. I have already set it up, and it works with the old mac classic version of aol 5.0, but I need a pc version of aol 5.0 to see if a pc can access the "wifi 56k" signal, too! Thanks again to you and the last 4 the help! Craig w.
