Message-ID: <105959.39517.qm@web55203.mail.re4.yahoo.com> Hello everyone... I have a sweet little Powerbook 2400c that I got off of eBay earlier this year. One of the PCMCIA "eject" buttons didn't work...and now the other has stopped working. Its not a big deal for the bigger cards, because I can just pull them out. But for flash memory and such its a pain to get them out without the eject button. Any ideas...is there a quick fix? Thanks Eric ps: I have tried dragging them to trash & control clicking to eject them as well. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Thanks Eric ps: I have tried dragging them to trash & control clicking to eject them as well. The 2400 does not have eject buttons. It does have the dreaded holes and every 2400 owner should have the essential tool for the purpose. Take a standard paper clip and 'unfold' a long end. Now poke the straight portion of the paper clip into the hole. You have to make sure that you hit the 'striker' at the right angle and then it is a matter of brute force. However, it is not a long term solution and it looks as though you will have to replace the PCMCA cage. Regards, Ian Thomas. Mmm-mm, interesting. I have just looked at both my 2400s again. They both have the top and bottom slots. They both have the infra red window above the slot cage. They both have the holes for the unfolded paperclip. Neither of them, however, has an eject button! Regards, Ian Thomas. I think they have raised triangle symbols on them but could be wrong. I was a bit scared of killing the mainboard, so I did not activate the CardBus. While I believe that I am ready to do so now, all the formerly available resources and instructions seem to have vanished and the below links just produce "404's": www.ab.aeonnet.ne.jp/~tkishino/Cardbus-e.html www.10k.org/jake/comet/cardbus Does anyone still have instructions photos/illustrations on how to enable the CardBus on a 2400, either locally stored or as a link? Another problem occured just recently: as my 2400 is approaching its 10th birthday, the rubber feet's consistency changed into a gooey chewing-gum-like lump that got stuck on every surface I put the laptop on. I finally decided to scrape them out of their cavities. Working for a computer manufacturer in Taiwan, I am planning to ask one of our suppliers to produce 20 (minimum amount) "samples" that I want to use to replace the feet. If anyone in the list faces the same problem, please e-mail me off-list. As I won't have to pay for these samples and only need four, I would be happy to mail the remaining 16 to people in need... In-Reply-To: Message-ID: <975054.72966.qm@web55207.mail.re4.yahoo.com> Hello Yes. The two little buttons with the triangles are the eject buttons. I have tried the paperclip advice to no avail...someone suggested that I might need to replace the PCMCIA cage. How feasible is that with this machine? I know they are kind of hard to get inside and even if I did where could I find a cage that fits this model. It is a minor annoyance I reckon as the cards do disappear from the desktop when I drag them to the trash. They just do not eject...I have to pry them out with tweezers which can't be good...lol! :) Thanks for advice everyone! --- David Grant wrote: > > Mmm-mm, interesting. On my 2400 I have to use the large size paper clips- the thin wire of the small clip just misses the inside eject button, while the thicker, fatter wire of the large paper clip hits it every time. Kind of a random thought I guess, but just thought I'd throw it out there.
