This isn't the answer you are looking for, but is a good suggestion 
even if one is not having problems.

One major problem for users of notebooks is neck strain since the 
screen sits low on the desk and you have to lean your head forward, not 
very good for the user and leads to neck pain. Also, the keyboard 
really sucks from an ergonomic point of view.

So, I use an Apple Pro keyboard and the new optical mouse connected to 
my Powerbook via usb. I rest the tiBook on a Podium Coolpad, even 
though I have advocated using free cd containers, and the Coolpad rests 
on a box about 6 + inches high. This places the screen at eye level and 
eliminates the neck pain. The Pro Keyboard is also much nicer to type 
on than the Powerbook keyboard.

This minimizes but does not eliminate your touchpad problems.

Now if Apple would put Blueteeth in the next Powerbook, the keyboard 
and the mouse, I'd buy in.
