I think you have two problems. 4.1 got bad reviews. Might try the 
slightly earlier version. Keyspan works and doesn't work. Palm's serial 
to USB converter always works and I think it is cheaper. I have four 
USB serial adapters, Belkin, Keyspan and two Palms. The Palm USB 
adapters seem to work with everything.
