Maybe he didn't.  The messages are character-for-character identical.
Some software somewhere probably burped.  In case it didn't, and for
some reason he lost the replies:

The two answers were one guess that it was a reset button and
the other that it was for "resetting the power manager."  I
don't know which, if either, is correct.
