All that stuff is stored in the users/username/library/preferences 
directory. If you back up your entire home directory, you are backing 
up those preferences.

I use my .mac account and the Apple backup utility to back them up to 
my iDisk. Larger files I back up to CD-ROM/DVD-RAm.
