Dark Screen

OK, newbie here.  I have aquired a blueberry clamshell Ibook.  The brightness of the the screen is only about 50% to 75% of what it should be.  (Yes, I do have the brightness set as high as possible.)  Is it time for a new screen, or mainboard???  Where might the best (read cheapest) place be to have this surgery done?
