All in all, it's an aspect of the Interface that just hasn't been 
handled well in OS X. It will probably be solved by reducing the size 
of the menu bar type, an aspect that also trips up applications with 
many or long menu items. (I seem to recall this happened when I was 
still using Eudora.)
