Some tape players will not work with the tape adapter, as the player
thinks that the tape has come to an end and keeps changing direction.
Others, like mine, have a flip-down face that hides the tape slot. It
will play with the door open, but I can't get to the controls.

Griffin is coming out with the iTrip, a new FM-connection that allows you
to use any frequency, not just one of a few. Check this:

It's $35 and very small.

In my case, the cigarette lighter is way down near to the cup holders.
Can you mount the iPod separately from the cigarette lighter plug?
Frankly, using an iPod in a car sounds almost as hazardous as using a cel
phone while driving.
