In the 70s during a snow storm there was a 300 car pileup on the New 
Jersey turnpike. Everyone was going 70 with zero visibility...  I have 
read 3 or 4 similar incidents elsewhere in the country. I don't know 
how many times I have been caught in a heavy rainstorm on the 
freeway/turnpike where I couldn't see the front of my car and located a 
bridge to pull up behind and watch the cars zoom by at 70+ mph....
