[P1] IBook Clamshell Tangarine

Can anyone tell me what OS shipped with the IBook Tangarine modle? 8.5,
8.6,9
Also will it boot to a USB HD?

I tried booting to a Snow Ibook CD version 9 and it will not boot. I got a
message that it is not the correct OS for that book.
Can I install os/8.5 and from a G3 tower then stick it back in and boot it
up?  I have a USB case to put the drive in to install it on anotehr
computer.
