My iBook has the "Memento" syndrom !!!!

Gang, something weird has happened ... And I bet it is all my fault ..

I had maxed out my HD space and I closed down all apps since I wanted to
clean up nicely  .. And I recall that at least photoshop told me something
about "cannot save prefs" ... Ok .. Had that before .. Means I have to
re-adjust it later, once I have space again ...

Ok .. But now that I have 2GB of space back ... My iBook cannot make any new
memories !!! MSIE keeps asking me EVERY time if it can be default browser,
even though I click "No" and "never dare ask me again".. And other apps
react similar .. Snapping back into default as soon as I turn around ...

I have a feeling there is some screwed pref database which I have to "shoot
free" ?? Well .. I have no clue ... I heard that "trashing prefs" was a
common thing in OS9 ...

So .. Is there help ?
