Hi Alex,

A few things to consider when doing updates;

-always make a backup first just in case things go wrong!

-It is prudent to wait for a week or two and see if others report problems
before making the jump.

-when you decide to update, I find it helps to run repair permissions first
before the update and again after the update.

-I usually run the following two things in terminal to 'feel' better and
then start getting back to work thereafter;

-first: sudo periodic daily weekly monthly

It will ask you for an administrator password thereafter and then go away
politely and clean these files out before it finishes and gives you the
command prompt again.

This command will clear out the appropriate unix files that build up if you
don't let the computer stay on every night.

-secondly: update_prebinding -root /

Which will start making sure that the applications know where to find all of
the associated program files...it will scroll through a very lengthy amount
of lines before finishing and giving back the command prompt.

One could consider this last one as somewhat similar to rebuilding the
desktop in 9...

Cheers,

Richard
