I have this original ibook, and I want to upgrade the RAM so I can install OS X. I have seen many memory sites state that although the MAC specs don't say the clamshell can take 512, they really can. Now I have this concern about the firmware update, OS X, and non-Apple RAM. The 256MB stick at the Apple Store looks good, because it's a guaranteed stable upgrade. However, I would really love to get 512MB in there. I got one opinion already to go with the Apple RAM for stability reasons. I'm looking for more opinions on this before I buy the RAM tonight. Any insight into what I should do would be appreciated. I'm really tempted to just get the Apple RAM because I know it will work with OS X, but that voice in the back of my head keeps saying "NO! get 512!! Is there any non-Apple RAM that is known to be compatible with the OS X/ Firmware situation? If so, do they offer a stick of 512? Thanks, Mike
