[iBook] MacBook problem

I couldn't find a MacBook List so here goes…

I cannot get the Dock to Hide/Unhide using the OPT-Cmd-D key combo.  
The dock hides, and then immediately pops up again. Or if is hidden,  
it pops up and then immediately hides.  WEIRD!!

I am able to to do a Hide or Unhide with the Dock item in the Apple  
menu.

MacBook, 2 Ghz Intel Core Duo, OS X 10.4.8

Any ideas?
