The MacBook may not be able to boot from the version from the MUG (earlier than shipping version). Have you tried booting from the MacBook disc with the iBook in target disk mode? This may not work anyway, as the MacBook has an Intel version of OS X, and the iBook will need the PPC version of OS X.
