[iBook] Clearing up disk space in OS 9, and reinsalling OS 9

I've been clearing up space on my iBook Clamshell with OS 9.2.2, and I've 
noticed a couple things:

-Is QuarkXPress necessary?


-Also, is the Hotline client necessary as well?

-And mine occasionally freezes up, and in one situation would not shut down.

-Some items would not delete themselves from the trash, even with the key 
combination.

Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!
