I have the answers.

I am in touch with a Dual 2 G5 owner who chooses to remain annonomouys.
A 1.6 owner is posting his findings over at the <http://www.SpyMac.com>
Hardware Forums. So I now know the ripping speeds of all three G5's.

160 kbps AAC rips. Sony DW-U10A SuperDrive 32x reader.

1.6 G5 got 20 X -22 X or 180 seconds per CD (60 minute average length)

Dual 2 got 26 X -30 X or 120 seconds per CD

So one can assume a 1.8 will do about 24 X - 26 X

AAC ripping is a single processor task BTW - so far. I'm wondering if a
52x reader will help improve the dual 2 G5's rip speed. But my hunch is
probably not much. So the 3 GHz G5 should do at least 45X or 90 seconds
per CD with a 52x reader attached via FireWire.

That's the skinny on the AAC ripping front. I really need that 3GHz
G5/6 so bad. ; ^ )
