[iTunes] Checked Songs in iTunes

Is it possible to have songs checked in a smartplaylist, e.g., Doo Wop 
but not checked in the Library?

I don't think so but I want all my Doo Wop on my iPod but I uncheck 
lower rated songs in my library so they don't go to my iPod.  I think I 
have an unsolvable dilemma.  I'm going to a party where Doo Wop will be 
in demand so I guess I'll have to temporarily check them.  This is a 
sanity check.  Thanks.
