I have music and audiobooks scattered on two disc drives (because my main data drive was getting full), but my husband has given me much larger drives now, and I'd like to consolidate everything. I looked at the Advance|Consolidate Library function, but it looks like it puts things in the Windows myDocuments/music location, which is on my C drive, and I want them all in a folder on my E (data) drive. Do I have to move everything by hand, or can I change that default location so it goes where I want it to go? does this make any sense? thanks, Becca ____________________________________________________________________________________ Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. You can change the path to the appropriate folder on your C: drive. Michael On Jun 28, 2007, at 9:15 AM, Becca Price wrote: > I use Windows XP. What I need to know is whether the path givein in Preferences/Advanced is what they mean by the iTunes Music folder path? -becca ======================== "Humans need fantasy to be human. First use Consolidate function to copy all music files into the initial Library location on your C drive (assuming there is enough room to do this). Then, under Preferences>Advanced>General tab, click on the "Change" button next to "iTunes Music Folder Location" and specify your E drive as new location of library. After testing to make sure all works properly, delete any remaining music files in other locations. -- Michael Prete _____________ More will be revealed From mscott4 at mac.com Fri Jun 29 10:34:15 2007 From: mscott4 at mac.com (Michael Scott) Date: Fri Jun 29 10:34:25 2007 Subject: [iTunes] changing the location of the iTunes Music folder In-Reply-To: <598561.66791.qm@web39608.mail.mud.yahoo.com> References: <598561.66791.qm@web39608.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Message-ID: <6db4f440a4577c38cdf81ead8a295303@mac.com> That IS the default itunes path. you can manually change that path but It appears that if you use the "consolidate" feature, it will use the default path. Advanced/Preferences allows you to change that default path.
