In the midst of playing, it will suddenly decide to reset itself. Also, I had it plugged into my computer for a couple of hours (I use a PC) to sync my podcasts and recharge. When I disconnected the iPod, it told me that there was 0 battery charge, and turned itself off... I connected it again (had to reset it before iTunes recognized it was there) for less than 10 minutes, disconnected it again and now it tells me that the battery if full and everything is just fine. is my iPod dying, or just the battery? (I just replaced the battery about 6 months ago... shouldn't new batteries last longer than that?) I really don't want to have to replace the iPod if I don't have to. thanks, Becca ======================== "Humans need fantasy to be human. My Belkin USB device was plugged into the Cinema Display so it was essentially a USB1 port instead of USB2. As soon as I connected the iPod touch into the USB2 on the front of the G5 it worked. I thought I should let you know since more than one person is having problems getting the iPod touch to sync. terry http://www.terrypogue.com/Terry "My idea of pure heaven is to spend a day in the kitchen, peeling, chopping, and stirring while the words of a good book fill the air around me." My housekeeper loaded her iPod with books and had 1 GB plus a little free space left. The top buttons worked, the calendar, contacts etc but the "songs, Videos, etc would not respond at all. I just did a reset and then loaded only a dozen books. I'm hoping it will work okay when I check it but I'd like to know if that was the cause of the bottom half freeze. terry please click and feed a animal http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com From list.lover at gmail.com Tue Oct 23 12:45:30 2007 From: list.lover at gmail.com (listLover) Date: Tue Oct 23 12:52:47 2007 Subject: [iTunes] mp4 question Message-ID: I want to delete my library and then recreate it by dragging the song files back into iTunes. Why? What are you hoping to accomplish? And where are you dragging the song files *from*? They normally reside in your iTunes Library, why would they be anywhere else? > Will my mp4 files (music purchased thru the iT store) still be playable, or will the copy protection kick-in? I believe that your protected AAC files can only reside within your iTunes library. If you delete them without a backup, you will probably lose them. You *do* have your iTunes library backed up don't you? If not, you are crazy/foolish. If you do, you can "recreate" (whatever that means) from your backup. I think you should proceed with caution here. Clearly state what you want to accomplish and perhaps there is a less drastic (and risky) way to accomplish it. If you want more valuable and specific suggestions, you would need to supply some information, like what computer you have, what operating system you are using, what version of iTunes you have, etc. -- Michael Prete _____________ More will be revealed From list.lover at gmail.com Wed Oct 24 17:19:43 2007 From: list.lover at gmail.com (listLover) Date: Wed Oct 24 17:26:29 2007 Subject: [iTunes] mp4 question In-Reply-To: <471EDEFF.4020206@cox.net> Message-ID: > listLover wrote: >> > I want to delete my library and then recreate it by dragging the song >> > files back into iTunes. > > Why? What I mean is I want to, within the iTunes application, delete everything, then drag back just the song files which reside within my library. I just have a ton of missing/moved references in iTunes, and want to get back to a ?clean? state. What I mean is I want to, /within the > iTunes application,/ delete everything, then drag back just the song > files which reside within my library. But... if you delete everything within iTunes, the iTunes Library folder is also within iTunes. Unless you have created a backup file (you never responded to that question) elsewhere, the only place for music files to reside is within the iTunes Library which is within iTunes. It still makes no sense to me. And before you try some variation on this, I would most definitely create a complete backup of the iTunes Library folder. > I just have a ton of missing/moved references in iTunes, and want to get back to a ?clean? state. > > I hope that?s a little clearer. So what you are trying to accomplish (remember that question?) is to remove orphan files (that doesn't connect to a playable song)? And end up with only those "good" music files? I think you are going about it all wrong and headed for heartache. I think you should check out this site and find an AppleScript (or two or three) that will do the house cleaning you want done. Here is where to start: Look for scripts that "manage" or "clean up" or "eliminate duplicates and orphans" and like that. AND BACK UP BEFORE YOU DO IT!! Good luck, let us know how it comes out. -- Michael Prete _____________ More will be revealed From rgolovniov at gmail.com Thu Oct 25 11:53:45 2007 From: rgolovniov at gmail.com (Robert Golovniov) Date: Thu Oct 25 11:53:51 2007 Subject: [iTunes] Questions on Apple Lossless Message-ID: Hello, I have a couple of CD's with mono recordings. The fact that a mono recording says stereo doesn't change anything. It's been driving me nuts. I'd finish a disk and it would repeat and not move on to the second disk. I found the control for it in the manual. Once you get the scrubber bar to appear by clicking on the album cover you want the repeat symbol which is on the left of the bar to NOT be blue, just a little touch and it goes gray and is off. The shuffle icon is on the right. That fixed it. From the manual: Displaying playback controls at any time You can display playback controls at any time when you?re listening to music and using another application?or even when iPod touch is locked?by double- clicking the Home button. If iPod touch is active, the playback controls appear over the application you?re using. After using the controls, you can close them or tap Music to go to the Now Playing screen. If iPod touch is locked, the controls appear onscreen, then are dismissed automatically after you finish using them. Additional Controls From the Now Playing screen tap the album cover. The repeat and shuffle controls and the scrubber bar appear. You can see time elapsed, time remaining, and the song number. Return to the browse lists Tap . Or swipe to the right over the album cover. Return to the Now Playing screen Tap Now Playing. See the tracks in your collection from the current album Tap . Tap any track to play it. http://www.terrypogue.com/Terry A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in napoleons blownapart.
