[iTunes] another stray question about my new Nano

Apparently I can put a calendar on my iPod as well as photos and
contacts. I figured out how to get contacts on it, sort of, but
I'm confused by the calendar function. I use a PC with Windows
XP on it, and according to the Contacts tab in iTunes when my
iPod is connected, I can only use the calendar feature if MS
Outlook is installed... is this correct? (if so, what a pain!)

please pardon my ignorance; I'm very new to the glories of my
new Nano, and am still exploring. I wish it came with a decent
user's guide! then I wouldn't have to bug everybody with
elementary questions like this...
