I knew there was probably a straight forward answer, but I couldn't see my way throught to it. I had set up a playlist based on bit rate, but this should work better!

Try to enable "Kind" column via View/View Options. That should help
you to distinguish between "Apple Lossless" and "MPEG Audio file".
