You transfer audio files to them from your computer and then they play them back. However, I have read about a MP2 *file format*. Here is a Wikipedia reference for MP2, or MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-1_Audio_Layer_II Here is a list of file formats that iPods can play: They are (quoted from Apple): AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF. Notice that MP2 is not listed. However, I wonder about Amazon offering an audio book in such a format. Is Amazon offering you a file to download directly, or a disk that they will mail to you? I bought several Harry Potter audio books from Amazon for my daughter. They came on CDs and you treated them like any other CD, ripping them with iTunes and then transferring it to the iPod. Show me the link for the book on Amazon if I haven't answered your question. -- Michael Prete _____________ More will be revealed From tpogue at comcast.net Mon Jul 9 19:38:32 2007 From: tpogue at comcast.net (Terry Pogue) Date: Mon Jul 9 19:38:16 2007 Subject: [iTunes] mp3 In-Reply-To: <4692DABD.6090507@cox.net> References: <5A3323AD-D34A-41B0-8580-0F740313AE0C@comcast.net> <4692DABD.6090507@cox.net> Message-ID: I know I put CDs into my itunes. If it's an mp3 file then you should be able to load it directly into iTune using the "Add to Library..." command on the drop down FILE menu. Or add it the the iTunes Library if you've already copied it to your hard drive. If it is an audio format (like say WAV) then you'll have to use the copy CD function built into iTunes. Once it is in iTunes, just sync your iPod and it'll appear in your library. Just be aware that it might not be put into the same place as it would have been if you'd have purchased it thru the iTunes store or thru Audible.com. Also you may find it useful to get the "Info" on the files you copy and add the meta-info that is usually not included on the CD.
