Noise difference between 40GB and 80GB

I have two Barracuda IV drives, 40GB and 80GB.

40GB one is really quiet but 80GB one is not. I know 40GB one has one 
platter and 80GB one has two. Two platters make the difference so much 
or my 80GB one is defective?
