[CUBE] Yo is my logic board fried?

Many people have had the firewire ports die on the cube. If the other
port is still working you might get a firewire hub to isolate the port.
Someone mentioned a powered firewire hub from Kensington maybe?

As for the USB audio, I used to have the speakers cut out when playing
a loud sound or music (a loud click would occur). Since I plugged them
into one of the ports on the Cube itself, I haven't had that problem
lately. YMMV. One thing some folks have done is use a Griffin iMic
with amplified speakers. That gives you an audio in port, too. You
need an audio adapter Radio Shack PN 274-369 to connect to your preamp.
The USB powered speakers used by the Cube are a design that Apple has
abandoned; it didn't work well.

Your logic board is not fried. Nearly everything is working normally.
The Cube was an ambitious design with several unique ideas. Maybe it
was too ambitious, but its beauty and uniqueness endear it to our
special group of users.
