No not box power. Messes with sleep if you try. He explains in the 
tutorial. He tried that and failed. I am going with a 12" ribbon and a 
double male connector to hook up the extension. But NO you cannot keep 
internal hooked up. The DVR-105 is being used instead of the internal 
optical. And yes the DVR-105 is set to slave.
