The Barracuda V is a new model and it will be the best combination of performance, acoustics and reliability. There are no significant differences other than the Barracuda V has a slower transfer rate so it can RAID. Seagate is producing or will produce an 8mb barracuda V with a serial ATA interface. This interface isn't compatible with the cube. Hope this helps.
