I've got a Barracuda V with 8 Mb cache. I haven't installed it yet, so I can't give you any benchmarks, but I hope to have time to do it soon. The model number on the drive is ST3120024A and I hope to see a (small) performance gain compared to my 80 Gb Barracuda IV when working in ProTools, for example. /Joakim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Toby Leung" <jstobias at uclink.berkeley.edu> To: "Cube List" <Cube at lists.themacintoshguy.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 26, 2003 3:44 PM Subject: Re: [CUBE] Seagate Barracuda IV vs. V > This is from seagate: > > From: Disc.PreSales.Email.Support at seagate.com > Date: Mon Nov 11, 2002 8:02:00 AM US/Pacific > To: jstobias at uclink.berkeley.edu > Subject: Re: |||ATA|How much quieter are the > > > In response to you inquiries regarding Barracuda Ultra ATA IV and > Barracuda V are 7,200-rpm hard drives accoustic, we must tell you that > both models have Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) motors which makes them > the > world's only virtually silent hard drives.
