pc card in airport slot

About the pc card in airport slot i wanted to use the one in my cube to 
use my rex 6000 with my cube under VPC in an earlier post i was told 
that no one thinks it's possible but the rex is recognized as a modem 
isn't the airport like a modem? Looking at the airport slot it sure 
looks like a pc card slot. Any ideas? Should i try to plug my rex in or 
will it burn up my rex or my cube.
