I'm not sure how well it would work (speaking as an electrical engineer). If your chimney is large enough that the air can cool down before escaping, you may hinder air flow. Once air in the chimney has cooled, that cool air won't be inclined to rise as well and must be pushed by the warmer air below. If this happens you'd be better off without the chimney. If the chimney is short enough it could help since it doesn't become cool air. What's long enough, I don't know. brad --
