[CUBE] Firewire problems

Well - Maxtor was pretty good about mine since I tried on and off for
quite a while (at least a year) to get mine to work consistently and I
didn't have the original receipt either. RMA is a Return(ed) Material
Authorization. You should be able to get one from the Maxtor web site
or by calling their service number. All it means is that they have a
record of the drive's problems, and know who it belongs to when it
arrives on their doorstep.

I doubt there's any local service centers that will be able to do
anything in the way of repairs on the drive. Maxtor didn't fix mine,
they just replaced it outright (with an 80 for my original 40!). So if
you go this route don't expect your drive or data back - try to get it
working long enough to snag a backup first.

Cheers,

Erik
