Partition size for X-perimenting

Three things converge:

1. The scourge of System 9.2.2 corruption

2. The scourge of refurbished IBM replacement drives (thanks for 
nothing, Apple)

3. The advent of GUI scripting

All of this means I'm getting ready for the plunge to X, though it 
will still be a few months. In the meantime, it looks like I need to 
wipe my 30 gig HD and begin again. Any suggestions for volume size 
and configuration to play with Jaguar while stile keeping my 
bread&butter 9.2.2 as the primary drive?
