I just read this on xlr8yourmac.com "For those wondering when the 1.2GHz G4 CPU upgrades would be available, site sponsor OWC wrote that they have the Sonnet 1.2GHz in stock now at their Sonnet AGP upgrades page. ( $735.99 on the site specials page, about $64 off list price). Sonnet's upgrade works with 100 or 133MHz bus speeds (auto-detect/setting) and is listed for G4 Sawtooth to 2001 Quicksilver models as well as the Cube (w/Cube install kit). The more info link on the 1.2GHz model notes that the $29.99 original Cube Installation kit (heatsink and fan) works with the 800MHz and 1.2GHz models. The 1.2GHz G4 must be a 7455A (or rev 3.3) that has a lower core voltage (and more ratios) than the previous rev 2.1 CPUs (mentioned in the Oct. 31st, 2002 news here.) Previously I was told by Sonnet that there would be a revised Cube Installation kit coming with a more robust DC-DC converter board (VRM) for the 1GHz Sonnet model. The info at OWC (and sonnet's original press release on the 1.2GHz model) notes the 1.2GHz can use the $29.99 original Cube installation kit, without needing the VRM (DC-DC board) in the Install kit for the 1GHz model. (Jamie Dresser later wrote that these CPUs are marked 7455A.)" cool. jesse .
