USB to ATAPI-4 Bridge controller (USB External HD problems)

I am trying to set up my old CUBE 20 gig HD with 20gig of mp3's for a 
Friend with a old imac.

I bought this 1.1 USB enclosure that is a USB to ATAPI-4 Bridge 
controller since his imac has only USB.

Well I can't get it to mount. OS 9 says it still needs drivers after I 
installed the ones I found

Don't know where to begin on OS X. Tried it with several jumper 
settings on several computers and OS's.

I know one of you know how to solve this situation.

Appreciate the help. I'm stumped
