From the Kemplar initiative (extremely Cool!), I have to express the following: I am always regarded with oohs and ahhs when people here in Venezuela looks at my Cube. And from the opinions expressed on the list, the machine is pretty much alive and kicking. I sometimes wonder why Apple stopped producing them and whether it would be a good idea to start again. When the Cube was launched, there probably was not too many USB or Firewire devices to make people not look at the internal expandability as too much of a problem. We have seen the processor options for cubes go from the original 450 - 500 Mhz to Single and dual options up to 1.2 Ghz. And 1.5 Gb of RAM is still pretty good even for today's standards. We have adapted the various high end Video Card to our machines, and they rock! Maybe adding a second IDE bus and adding one or even two laptop HD's could make the cube more expandable (there is still space inside!). With today's cooling fans, I would tolerate a small amount of noise just to keep the form factor. Today the floppy-less computers are more and more common and becoming a industry norm. A PC-card slot on the top, maybe? Lets hope that Apple, with today's marketplace and options, rethinks the Cube and maybe provides us with a G5, dual IDE bus, Superdrive Twinview Cube sometime in the future! Regards, Francisco Romero
