Lemme guess - these are old slot-loading CRT iMacs?  Better upgrade the 
firmware to 4.1.9.  I had a similar problem, but my screen was 
completely red and fuzzy when I upgraded to 10.2.  Firmware update 
fixed the problem.  10.1 isn't supposed to have the same problem, but 
you might try it anyways.
