Line voltage should have no effect on the internal power supplies in the Cube. The External Brick takes the mains AC power and converts it to a regulated 28V at 8.125Amps This is supplied to the Cube internal power supplies via the 4 pin round connector plug on the bottom of the Cube. If your DC-DC board fried, it's probably as a result of the extra load of the Sonnet CPU board on the 5V supply. The Cube's DCDC board runs close to it's output current capability when the CPU is upgraded. If it overheats, the FET's on the DCDC board will burn out. This can cause what is known as a cascade failure as the 28V external supply is run to all the parts of the cube that normally get 5V. If this happens, then nearly every electronic part inside the cube is damaged.
