Dead Cube, need help

This might be a re-hash of older topics, I just don't have time to search the archives.

What does it mean when a cube that's been working fine since late 2000 and running OS9 the entire time suddenly makes a start-up chime type sound, shuts itself down, and won't start back up?

Was this a memory or harddrive issue? I remember reading about this in the past on this list.
